Symbol Search

Most panels will include a search for symbol box or a symbol browser ('magnifying glass' icon).

Symbol Search

Typing in a symbol/instrument/ticker or keyword into the search for symbol box will automatically start creating a list of suggested symbols as you enter in the text.

Depending on the search, you will see different asset class groupings that can be expanded and minimized using the arrows to the left of the grouping or contract.

If you know the futures root to the contract you are after, you can use the # character to add multiple months of futures contracts to a quoteboard. In the example below, 15 CBOT soybean meal futures contracts will be added to the quoteboard in ascending order based on expiration month.

Symbol Browser

Clicking on the Symbol Browser (Magnifying Glass) will pull up a dialogue where you can view the cmdtyView data catalog in a ‘tree’ structure'.

By clicking on any of the ‘branches’ you can open up various leaves to drill down your search for specific instruments.

You can use the search for symbol box in conjunction with asset class buttons atop the tree to narrow/refine your search even further. An example would be if you are looking for a EURUSD Forex quote, you can enter in EUR or EURUSD and click the ‘FX’ button to view only Forex instruments (removal of Futures from the search).

By default, the ‘Symbol Browser’ panel is set to display only those exchanges which you are permissioned for. You can click the ‘eye’ icon to show all exchanges that cmdtyView has access to.

The right side of the symbol browser displays all the contracts currently inserted into the quoteboard. You can remove symbols, add headers, and click and drag contracts to change the ordering of the quoteboard.
