Trading Configuration

Logging in and Account Types

Once the CQG enabled account is created, you can then login using the credentials provided by the FCM/broker to execute futures trades in cmdtyView. Through the Settings (cog wheel) located in the main toolbar of cmdtyView, click on ‘Configure Trading & Hedging.'

After entering in the FCM provided username and password, select the type of account you are accessing. cmdtyView supports paper trading, CQG simulated trading, CQG live trading, hedging simulated and hedging live accounts. For live futures trading only, select the ‘Live Trading’ option.

Once entered, click Connect and you will be prompted to sign Barchart’s Electronic Trading Application Terms of Use.

After accepting the terms, the application will automatically sync your account and a connected status will appear.

cmdtyView allows logins to multiple account types (live trading, simulated trading, hedging) at one time. Once configured, all trading accounts will display in the ‘User Menu’ drop down. This allows you to select the proper trading account to view positions or make trades (depending on the configuration, it is possible for a single CQG login to give you access to multiple trading accounts with your broker).

Global Trading Account

For users with multiple trading accounts, the "active" trading account is an application-wide setting. You will choose an account from which all widgets in the application will trade from at any one time. You can be confident that all trades placed are going to the same active account, reducing the chance of trading mistakes. To change the "active" trading account, simply select the desired account from the drop-down box in the ‘User Menu’ (located at the top of the application in the main toolbar.)

You can also change the global trading account using the Settings > Configure Trading and Hedging by clicking on an active account and setting it as the global trading account (radio button).

Once the active account is selected, all trading execution panels (DOM, Order Ticket and Chart Trader) will update with that account’s information and trades can be successfully placed into that account.

Trading Preferences

Through the settings you can set global trading preferences for all of your trading actions.
