Grain Price Indexes

By clicking on the Grain Price Indexes layer you can filter Barchart’s proprietary grain assessments based on commodity, boundary, type of index, delivery period and value.

Commodities include corn, soybeans, wheat, hard red wheat and spring wheat. Boundaries cover US counties, USDA Agricultural Statistics Districts, US states and National. Layer types supported are cash and basis. Delivery periods are 12 months rolling forward. Values can be set to last and previous updated prices or price change ranging from 5 day change to 520 day change.

Cash Grain Bids

View grain elevator bids from locations across the US and Canada by applying the Cash Grain Bids layer. Select the location type and commodity to drill down the results.

Location types include country elevator, ethanol/bio-fuel, export terminal, feedlot, feed mill and direct ship. Use the ‘All’ to option to select all location types. Available commodities covered are corn, soybeans, wheat, hard red wheat and spring wheat. use the ‘All’ option to select all commodity types. Zoom in the map and click on a location to pull up their latest bids and basis.

Click on the ‘clock’ icon to view historical time series data for that bid or click on the ‘columns’ icon to launch a chart.

Cash Bid Prices

Apply the Cash Bid Prices layer to visually make finding the highest (green box) and lowest (red box) bids in the map easier.

As you the map is zoomed in and out or scrolled side to side the bids coloratoin will update.

Production and Yield Forecasts

The Production and Yield Forecasts layer can plot yield forecasts for county all the way up to national level for different commodities and periods.

Select a commodity (corn or soybeans), forecast type (yield forecast, area harvested forecast, or production forecast), boundary (US counties, USDA Agricultural Statistics Districts, US states and National) and period (manually enter in a date or use the date picker to view the historical data as of that date).

Use the Timeline feature by clicking on the ‘radio button’ to playback the data from the period selected to the most recent datapoint.

Advanced Crop Factors

Overlay crop factors like Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Land Surface Temperature(LSTD & LSTN), and station collected weather data, like air temperature(TMAX & TMIN), and accumulated precipitation(PRCP) on a county level.

Apply commodity and fundamental data from various agencies like the USDA or EIA directly to the map and use the timeline feature to view the historical data played back.

Select a year (start date), boundary, commodity, metric, frequency, active stat and then enable the timeline to view the change in that statistic over time.
