Hedge Balances

The Hedge Balances panel provides an overview of the elevator’s cash grain position in terms of long or short bushels of a commodity. The Hedge Balances panel can be added to a workspace by clicking on Connect in the main toolbar and selecting Hedge Balances in the Hedge grouping.

Hedge Balances Layout

Below is a top level layout of the Hedge Balances panel.

The panel is broken down into tiers (or levels) top to bottom and columns (or data fields) left to right. As you expand the tiers the data granularity will increase from commodity (top tier) to offers (tier 4). As the tiers are expanded, the columns update with the various applicable data values.

Hedge Balances Levels (rows)

Tier 1 (Commodity) - This level displays the commodity for which the grain bid and underlying future derive from. Supported commodities include corn, wheat and soybeans. In the 'Qty' column the total number open futures contracts(hedges) across all expirations is visible. To view the next level (futures expirations), click on the arrow icon to expand the row.

Tier 2 (Futures Expirations) - This level displays the futures expirations for which the commodity has underlying bids open. If a bid does not exist for an underlying future, the future will not display in the list. The ‘Qty’ column in this level displays the total number of open bids for the underlying future. The Hedge Balance column will display the long or short cash grain position of the futures contract month. To view the next level (grain bids), click on the arrow icon to expand the row.

Tier 3 (Grain Bids) - This level displays all of the grain bids for the underlying futures contract month. Here the location is for the bid is visible in addition to the delivery period and basis of the bid. The ‘Qty’ column shows the number of offers that have been placed on the bid.

Tier 4 (Grain Offer) - This level displays all offers placed on the grain bid. Here the status of the offer is visible and can be filled, working, expired or rejected. The ‘Qty’ column her shows the bushels offered.
